She is clothed with
strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the
days to come.
She speaks with
wisdom,
and faithful
instruction is in her tongue.
She watches over the
affairs of her household
and does not eat the
bread of idleness.
Her children arise
and call her blessed;
her husband also,
and he praises her;
"Many women do noble
things,
but you surpass them
all."
~Proverbs 31: 25-29~
Thank You Mama
Mothers Day is the
second Sunday in May and I
know the
relationship of having a mother
& also being a mother.
No matter what the
title, Mother, Mommy, Mama,
Ma or just plain
Mom,
they all refer to someonepretty special to
you.
It's nice to have
a *special* day to say:
*Mom's Are
Awesome.*
A mom is a person
that probably knows more about
you than anyone
else. She is just full of all kinds of
advice. My Mama was
so good at giving advice in her
cute little way. I
remember so many of her sayings
and when I look back
on them now, I have to smile
as I have so many
great memories of my precious
Mama. I feel sure
she was trying to build character
in the eight
characters she was trying to raise.
She'd say:
Be careful or your
face will freeze like that.
How do you know you
don't like it
when you haven't even tasted it?
It will make hair
grow on your chest.
Keep your feet off
the furniture
and your elbows off the table.
Were you born
yesterday?
Were you born in a
barn?
Close the door.
No jumping on the
beds.
Just wait till your
Dad gets home,
you're gonna get it.
Money doesn't grow
on tree's.
If your friends
jumped off the bridge,
would you jump off too?
If you slam that
door one more time,
you will be sorry.
How many times do I
have to tell you?
If you don't stop
that you'll wish you had.
Why can't you be
more like your brother/sister?
Did you get up on
the wrong side of the bed?
Eat it,
think of all
the little orphans that are starving.
If you know what's
good for you,
you will answer me.
You gotta be kiddin'
You'll be the death
of me yet.
You just never
learn.
Your eyes are bigger
than your stomach.
If I've told you
once,
I've told you a hundred times not to
do that.
*I Heard That*
These are just a few
of Mom's sayings that she
repeated over and
over for many years. I'll bet there
are literally
hundreds of sayings that mother's have
used to try to build
character in their children.
All mother's give
advice and I am sure we are better
adults because of
it.
Think of all the
things you have to be grateful for
*Because Of Your
Mama*
The nine months she
carried you.
The pain she bore
giving birth to you.
Getting up night
after night when you were sick.
All the love and
comfort she gave.
For the spirituality
she instilled, if she did.
For all the messes
she cleaned up and never
complained because
she loved you.
For washing,
ironing, mending, cleaning the home
and cooking for
hours on end.
For making sure you
got an education.
For spending quality
time with you.
For giving
*Unconditional Love*, when she
didn't have much
else to offer.
For her love of
family, only second to God.
This list is so
small in comparison to what a mother
actually gives in
raising her family.
Our Mama had eight
children in nine years & three
months. She went
without for most of her young life
so we could have
some of the things we needed.
Thank you my
precious Mama for the many tears you
wiped away and the
many scrapes you bandaged.
Thank you for being
there, day after day while you
went without many of
the necessities you needed.
Thank you for
helping to mold my life without me
even realizing
it was happening. And for the greatest
lesson of all, that
you can love someone, without
expecting anything
in return.
*I Love & Miss You
So Much, Mama*
