"Dede's Walk With God"

The Family
We were a strange little band
of characters trudging through life
sharing diseases and toothpaste,
coveting one another's desserts,
hiding shampoo, borrowing money,
locking each other out of our rooms,
inflicting pain and kissing to heal it
in the same instant, loving, laughing,
defending, and trying to figure out
     the common thread
that bound us all together.

Man looks on the outward appearance
but God sees the heart
Samuel  16:7

White Trash

Yes, that's what they called us
But that was so long ago
Children will be children, they say
Some say, "What do they know?"

We were teased because of our clothes
But mainly because we were so poor
These were children being children
They were just so immature

Now we teach our children
To accept the differences of others
Do not look on the outside
God made us all sisters and brothers

The heart is what God looks at
We were made in His perfect image
Do unto others as you would have them
do unto you
This is such a great old adage

Love all like the Almighty God loves us
He loves us all the same
He is our Precious Heavenly Father
To stray from Him would be a shame

To God, there is no human trash
He does not choose between us
We are all His own precious children
Read your Bible to find great success

Lord, help us to be more like You
So that we can do just as you ask
You ask so little of us
This shouldn't be that hard a task

Prayer
God grant us the wisdom to think, speak
and act each day as You would want us to.
May we never question your wisdom and teachings.
Oh Lord, keep us from judging others based
on their appearances. Help us to see the
good in all your children, and let us practice
the graces we'd like to see in others.
