"Dede's Walk With God"

Remember Grandpa

Grandpa lived to be ninety six or seven
Before he left us and headed for heaven
I still remember the home he lived in
Grandma kept it neat as a pin

Lacy doilies and family keepsakes everywhere
Letters to answer, here and there
Grandpa never failed to answer them all
While gazing at family photos on the wall

Family meant the world to him
He didn't want a world full of sin
The word of God, to many he wrote
Most were long letters, some just a note

Telling of God's Unconditional Love
And the promise of Eternal Life, above
He wanted his family in heaven with him
His faith in God was not a whim

Sitting in his overstuffed chair, oh, so comfy
Reading his Bible and smoking his pipe
Always counting his grandchildren, so proudly
But he  didn't brag, he wasn't the type

I cherish my letters all stored away
So all my family can read them one day
I thank God for Grandpa every day
He was the one who showed me the Way

Thank you, Grandpa, it comes from my heart
A day will come and we won't be apart
You were the greatest of them all.
I still have your picture on my wall

Save me a place right by your side
The heavenly rules, I will abide
Please tell the others, I miss them  too
And I love them all, as much as you

You were the one I looked up to
I knew what you shared would always be true
A man of his word is hard to find
My Dear Grandpa, You were one of a kind
