It's A Long
Road
by Jerry
Morris
Sitting all
alone here in the darkness
I stand guard
tonight for my company
I can't think
of home even for a moment
For my
friends lives depend on me
It's a long long
road that we must go on
Never knowing
what lies around the bend
It's a long
long road, but we must keep going on, you see
If we're
going to bring this war to an end
As I watch
the fighting, I think about my friend
He was buried
in his hometown, back in the USA today
His mother
found his last letter that he had sent to her
As she
stopped by the mailbox on the way home from
the funeral
She read
where he said,
How proud he was to serve for
his country
And in the
end, he gave his life for it
It's a long
long road, but we must travel on
Never knowing
what lies around the bend
It's a long
long road but I must keep going on
Until it's
time for me to go home again
Remember,
they gave their lives to keep us free
We can't
forget them, We must remember!
